The Oxford Centre for Soft and Biological Matter away day 2019 was held on the 5th of April in the Mathematical Institute on Woodstock Road, and was sponsored by the Christ Church Research Centre, the Leverhulme Trust and the The Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self Organisation. The day was a great success, with talks and posters on topics including confined electrolytes, novel colloidal particles and active matter simulations. The first OCSBM poster prize winner was Alice Wong, for her poster 'Phase Behaviour of 2D Colloidal Systems Using a Repulsive Optical Landscape'. Runners up were Tim Groves, Joseph Hutchinson, Babak Nasouri, Heidi De Sousa and Kristian Thijssen.
